The combination of WOODBERRY COFFEE Kihara Musashi and Las Lajas Farm SL28 has come true!

Kihara MusashiMusashi Kihara
Influenced by the coffee culture he encountered while Manabu in the United States, Kihara Musashi opened a specialty coffee shop in his hometown of Yoga, Setagaya, in 2012. He started out as a barista, but soon ran into a problem with creating flavors, and began roasting in pursuit of the best coffee. He currently has shops with different concepts in Daikanyama, Shibuya, and Ogikubo, promoting the diverse appeal of specialty coffee. In addition to coffee that clearly reflects the characteristics and individuality of its producing region, he is committed to organic coffee and sustainable efforts, with the motto of making the world a better place, even if just a little.

"We deliver the flavorful rare variety SL28 Natural Process in a light roast."

Micafeto, the importer, visited this farm in 2018 and was convinced that the farmer could reproduce the high quality SL28 that Micafeto was looking for, so they cultivated it.
This batch was made by carefully harvesting only the fully ripe beans from a limited section of the Las Lajas farm, and drying them with the flesh still attached, using a natural process. This variety has a unique aroma and a wonderful full body. The flavors from the farm, the variety, and the natural process were all well balanced, and I was very surprised at the high potential of this variety.
The degree of roasting is light to bring out the full potential of this coffee. We will roast it to bring out the beautiful acidity of Las Lajas and the flavor characteristics of the SL28 variety to the fullest. It has a beautiful citrus nuance with a complex flavor of dried fruits and berries, and a sweet aftertaste.
What's interesting, though, is the name SL28 . The initials of the research institute established in Kenya and the serial number are the name of the variety. At one time, it disappeared due to the popularity of hybrid varieties that were high-yielding and resistant to diseases. In recent years, transplant cultivation has been actively implemented in Costa Rica, but it is still a rare variety.
I felt the potential of SL28 variety when I tried the coffee of Dale Harris, the WBC champion in 2017. If the farm can maximize the potential of SL28 , it will have a wonderful taste that is not inferior to Geisha variety, and I have high hopes for its future.
I felt the same wonderful flavor in this Las Lajas coffee, and I wanted to share it with everyone. It's a little pricey, but we roast it to bring out the full potential of the terroir, variety, and process. I hope you enjoy it.
