Aurora Farm is a project of the Brenes and Ereta families, founded in 2006 by Roberto Brenes, who had a long and successful career in the financial world, after his retirement. Located in the highlands of Piedra Candela in Chiriqui province, at an altitude of 1,570 to 1,770 meters, Finca La Aurora is situated near the Costa Rican border in an area home to some of the world's finest farms, boasting a truly exceptional terroir.

Of the 30.5 hectares of farmland, only 14.5 hectares are used for cultivation, with the remaining 16 hectares protected as untouched rainforest. This rich forest environment is a treasure trove of biodiversity, giving the coffee a unique complexity. The dense shade provided by endemic trees and high-altitude hasu avocado trees is far denser than on other farms, creating a stable microclimate with minimal diurnal temperature fluctuations. By making the most of the low humidity from December to January and the dry, sunny period that lasts until mid-April, they cultivate the highest quality cherries for a late harvest from the end of December to mid-March.

At Auromar Farm, all of Geisha washed cherries are hand-picked at their peak ripeness. Experienced indigenous harvesters are paid premium wages far above industry standards, guaranteeing compensation for their skill in carefully selecting only the ripeest cherries. Upon arrival at the mill after harvest, the cherries undergo immediate micro-selection, followed by a meticulous 16-18 hour fermentation process after pulping, and then careful drying. Further thorough hand-sorting takes place, followed by a minimum 6-week rest period before shipment.

Since their debut in 2013 when their "Ironman" lot won first place in Geisha Washed category, Auromar Farm has built a brilliant track record at Best of Panama. In 2016, they won again in the Natural category. And in 2022, "Firestone" claimed their third victory. Roberto, who is also a triathlete, continues to lead the way at the forefront of Panama Geisha with his unwavering passion and exceptional skills.

Taste

It has a floral aroma, a lemonade-like sweetness and clarity, a pear-like flavor, and an aftertaste similar to Darjeeling tea. Overall, it gives a gentle impression, but the sweetness and umami are firmly present as a base.

Tasting Notes

The clear sweetness of lemon tea and honey, and the floral aroma.
