The excitement at the SCAJ 2023 Awards Ceremony is back!
The Panama Coffee Roasting Competition 2023 (PCRC 2023) was the first roasting competition using only Panamanian coffee, held from July to September 2023.
The final tournament was covered by CROWD ROASTER media, and the skills and enthusiasm of over 80 contestants produced many dramatic moments that brought the tournament to a close.
CROWD ROASTER was involved in the tournament as a sponsor and official media, and the awards ceremony where the winners were announced was held at CROWD ROASTER booth at SCAJ2023!
And as we announced at the award ceremony, as a special collaboration project with PCRC 2023, we will be selling special tasting boxes using the beans selected in the finals!

PCRC 2023 was held in two categories: Traditional and Geisha .
This special set is a tasting set in which the winning roaster and a roaster from CROWD ROASTER roasted the same beans from each of the final competitions.
The roaster is Shinya Kobayashi of Wakoya, a specialty coffee shop in Fukui, who was the winner of PCRC 2023 and won two categories this time.

Geisha Box lets you drink precious lots from the famous La Huelia estate
The Geisha division focused on the world's best Panamanian Geisha and other high-quality brands that are full of the charm of Panama. The challenge bean for the final was the extremely rare Geisha "La Huería Geisha Natural N97 Anaerobic Lot 2". Pedro Mos has perfected a method to bring out the aroma and terroir to the fullest by strictly controlling fermentation. He has started producing the highest grade coffee, "N97", based on the concept of a "perfect score" in his own evaluation. This is the second batch of the 2022 process, named Lot 2.

Introducing the new brand "Lupao" for the first time in Japan! "Traditional Box"
The Traditional category was a category in which the challenge beans were varieties that could be enjoyed in Panama's representative terroir other than Geisha , such as Typica , Catuai, and Pacamara .
The challenge beans for the finals were the new Panamanian variety, "Auromar Farm Lupao Natural," which has just arrived in Japan for the first time. This rare coffee was roasted by the winners, Shinya Kobayashi and Ishii Yasuo of LEAVES COFFEE ROASTERS .
Auromar Farm is the farm that grows the world-famous "Auromar Geisha ," and here, through natural crossbreeding, the completely new original Panamanian variety "Lupao" was born.
Farm owner Roberto Brenes and his family discovered new potential for Panamanian coffee and have poured their utmost love into cultivating this "next generation coffee," which is finally making its debut on the world stage.
