HARIO V60, a dripper that fascinates baristas

“HARIO V60” loved by baristas

The dripper "HARIO V60" is now used by many coffee shops.
Why does this dripper attract so many baristas?

The biggest factor is being able to create a clear taste. The features of ``HARIO V60'' are ``the single large hole at the bottom'' and ``the length of the ribs (grooves on the sides).'' These two distinctive structures allow hot water to flow smoothly, resulting in a "clear taste."

In recent years, fruity coffees and coffees with a refreshing taste have become mainstream, and being able to extract ``clearly'' is an extremely important element for baristas. "HARIO V60" can reproduce that.
It can be said that the reason why "HARIO V60" is loved by so many people is that it can be extracted to a "clear taste" that you want to drink anytime.

"HARIO V60" drip recipe

Now, I would like to introduce CROWD ROASTER style recipes using "HARIO V60". (This time the recipe is for 2-3 cups)
The taste that CROWD ROASTER aims for is ``clear, sweet, and long aftertaste.'' Aiming for this taste, we will extract it.

[Tools to prepare]
・HARIO V60 Dripper ・HARIO V60 Filter ・Server ・Scale Pot ・Thermometer

[Ratio] *This time the recipe is for 2 to 3 cups Coffee beans: 30g
・Extraction amount: 400cc
・Steaming time: 45 seconds ・Total extraction time: 1 minute 30 seconds

① Prepare coffee beans and grind them with a mill

First, prepare 30g of coffee beans and grind them to a medium-coarse grind. Since the taste we are aiming for is "clear", we recommend a slightly coarser grind than normal.

② Set the ground powder in the dripper, pour hot water, and let it steam.

Warm up the dripper and server before setting the powder. Coffee is a drink whose taste changes as the temperature changes. Therefore, by pre-warming the dripper and server, you can prevent changes in taste due to temperature.

After heating, set the powder ground in step 1 in the dripper and pour hot water in a circular motion starting from the center. It is no exaggeration to say that steaming is the most important step in coffee extraction. Carefully apply hot water evenly and evenly.
After that, steam for 45 seconds, and if the filter is completely colored, it's the best steaming.

③After steaming, pour hot water

Once steaming is complete, pour in hot water. CROWD ROASTER recommends extraction using thick hot water. By extracting with thick hot water, the flow of hot water becomes faster and you can achieve a clearer taste.
When pouring hot water, spread it out in a circular motion from the center. After pouring to the outside, return to the inside again. Repeat the same movements until you reach the desired amount of extraction. Roughly, if you draw a circle about 5 times, it will be 400cc.

④When the amount of extraction is reached, remove the dripper.

When you reach the desired extraction volume (400cc in this case), remove the dripper even if there is still hot water inside. The last components that come out of coffee are bitterness and off-flavors.
In order to achieve the flavor that we at CROWD ROASTER aim for, we recommend that you remove the dripper once the amount of extraction has been reached.

⑤ Stir and pour into a cup

Finally, stir the coffee well. There is an order in which the ingredients come out when coffee is extracted. If you drink it without stirring it, the taste will vary, so be sure to stir it about 5 times. It's a little time consuming, but it's an important process.
Pre-warm the cup and once stirring is complete, pour the coffee into the cup and enjoy.

Flavors that can only be found in “HARIO V60”
