The charm of “Nel Drip” that allows you to enjoy the deep flavor

There are various methods for extracting coffee, but one of the oldest methods is using a cloth called ``flannel drip''.

Looking back at the history of hand drip, a drip pot with a flannel was invented by Don Martin in France in 1763, followed by the disposable paper drip pot by Melita Benz in Germany in 1908. It is said that it was done.

I think paper drip is a more familiar extraction method these days, but I would like to take a look at the appeal of flannel drip, which has a longer history than paper drip.

Historical extraction method

Flannel drip is a method of extracting coffee using a cloth filter called a flannel.
Flannel is an abbreviation for "flannel" and is the material used to make flannel shirts that are often seen in winter. Extraction filters made using this material are called "flannel."

Flannel is said to be the oldest tool for filtering drinks.

At first, coffee beans were boiled raw, but eventually they were roasted, and then crushed and boiled in a state that was easier to extract. It is said that the original form was filtered through a jute bag that was carried inside.

Eventually, the size was improved to a more appropriate size, and cotton, which has a higher filtration ability than linen, was used, and it is said that the handle was attached, giving it its current shape.

Although it is more difficult to maintain than the current mainstream paper filter and requires more skill, it is still one of the favorite tools of coffee enthusiasts.

Enjoy unique coffee oil

Flannel filters have coarser meshes than paper filters, and as they are used over and over again, they allow coffee oil to pass through them more easily.
This extracted oil creates the relaxing sweetness that is unique to flannel drip and the satisfying taste.

Additionally, flannel's soft, lightly brushed texture tends to catch coffee particles, resulting in a smooth, mellow taste with no edges.

It allows the high-quality coffee oil you want to put into the cup to pass through, but not the unnecessary fine coffee powder.

You can enjoy the oily and flavorful coffee that is unique to flannel drip.

On the other hand, since paper filters are made of paper, they absorb the oils in the coffee, resulting in a cleaner and clearer taste compared to flannel filters.

"Flannel drip" allows you to enjoy a different taste than paper drip or French press.

We recommend using flannel drip to extract deeply roasted items or brands that you want to enjoy with a strong flavor.
I think you can fully enjoy coffee oil.

Please try this historic extraction method.
