CROWD ROASTER will also have a booth!

[Day 2] Looking back at CROWD ROASTER on September 28th

This year, at CROWD ROASTER booth, various professionals from the coffee industry, including roasters, baristas, mechanics, importers, and producers, gathered to hold various events and shows, delivering special content that could only be seen and heard here.

Now let's take a look back at CROWD ROASTER booth on the second day, September 28th.

Brewer Japan Champion Extraction Showdown! The Best Drip Competition

 
A serious extraction battle between JBrC2022 Champion, Brewman Tokyo Hikaru Ono and JBrC2023 Champion, Shiraishi Tomoki!
We had both of them drip the same beans and then had the audience vote for the one they thought was best.
Two rounds will be played, and the winner will be the one with the most total votes. This will be an unprecedented head-to-head showdown between brewer champions!
 
 
A huge number of people gathered at our booth to watch the outcome of this showdown of the century!
Ono was dominant in the first round, and Shiraishi was dominant in the second round. Based on the total number of votes, Shiraishi was declared the winner.

Hearing about the behind-the-scenes of the Yokohama Coffee Festival

 
This talk, titled "Why I'm holding a coffee festival," was broadcast from the RADIO booth and featured Momosaki Yu, representative of YOKOHAMA COFFEE FESTIVAL.
 
The young barista, Momosaki, talked to us about various things, including why he started the coffee festival, what to look forward to this year, and the difficulties of running it.

Burned down the COE farm!? Iwasaki 's talk

 
A talk from the RADIO booth featuring roaster Yuya Iwasaki of Takamura Coffee Roasters.
 
Iwasaki immediately comments on the title, "The Man Who Burned Down the COE Farm."
"If we did something like this, we'd be on the international wanted list!" "But I think everyone can see that we didn't set the fire..."
 
Iwasaki spoke freely about his experiences visiting COE award-winning farms and the Takamura Coffee lineup.

The deep world of coffee machines

 
Next we invited to the RADIO booth was Honda Kokoro, representative of R&D ESPRESSO, a group of coffee machine mechanics.
 
We spoke to Honda about how he started the mechanic group R&D ESPRESSO and the various coffee machines that interest him.
Honda-san generously shared information about machines that you can't get anywhere else, including affordable, high-performance roasters.

Coffee roasted by Morifuji that everyone will love

 
The next person we invited to the booth was Tomomichi Morifuji from Red Poison Coffee Roasters.
The talk was titled "The addictive red liquid that everyone will love," and we asked Morifuji about the secrets of his roasting process.
 
What surprised me about the conversation was that Morifuji 's roasting is constantly evolving.
Morifuji says that he is gradually changing the roasting method of his coffee, which still has a strong character.
 
 
We also had them extract the coffee using a Clever Dripper.
Here too, the decision to grind the beans coarsely was initiated by chance.
 
Morifuji is always striving to improve and seek the best. We can't take our eyes off his future endeavors!

Famous farm owners from Panama gathered at the CROWD ROASTER booth!

 
Next to take to the stage at the CROWD ROASTER booth were the owners of some famous farms from Panama!
 
We gathered the owners of Esmeralda Farm, which also featured in a special project at CROWD ROASTER , as well as Lerida Farm, Bambito Farm, and Altieri Farm.
 
Each of them gave us a talk about their own farm.
It was easy to see how each person Shin committed to making coffee.
 
We hope to continue introducing the appeal of Panamanian coffee, including Geisha , at CROWD ROASTER in the future.

PCRC2023 Awards Ceremony with the Ambassador of Panama at the event

 
The final event of the day was the awards ceremony for the "PANAMA COFFEE ROASTING COMPETITION 2023," a roasting competition limited to Panamanian coffee, hosted by Barisa & Tierra.
 
The roasting competition was judged in two categories: Geisha and Traditional.
The top eight finalists were awarded, and the first ever champion was announced!
 
The result was...a surprising outcome, with Shinya Kobayashi roaster from Wakoya, winning both categories!
The winner, Mr. Kobayashi , was presented with a trophy by the Panamanian ambassador.
 
 
The coffee roasted by Kobayashi at the finals will be available for special sale at CROWD ROASTER .

Barista Ishitani Takayuki wins the JBC!

 
There was more good news later that day!
The results of the two-day Japan Barista Championship were announced, and barista Takayuki Ishitani, who serves as an advisor for CROWD ROASTER , was crowned Japan Champion for the third time!
 
Congratulations to Ishitani-san! Ishitani-san also appeared at CROWD ROASTER booth on the third day, and demonstrated his rare hand drip brewing technique.
