What is the Japan Coffee Roasting Championship?

The JCRC is a competition for coffee roasting techniques organized by the Specialty Coffee Association of Japan (SCAJ). Its purpose is to contribute to the improvement of roasting techniques, and it is also held as a selection tournament for the world championship, the WCRC.

The JCRC was started based on the CRC (Coffee Roasting Challenge), a program of the WCE (World Coffee Events) introduced at the SCAE Vienna Convention in 2012. The CRC was renamed the World Coffee Roasting Championship in 2013.

Past winners of the JCRC include CROWD ROASTER roasters Yoshiyuki Nakamura ( mamepolepole ) and Masakuni Sakata ( KOTO COFFEE ROASTERS ).
