What is Esmeralda Farm's "Private Collection"?
CROWD ROASTER EX lineup now includes "Private Collection Geisha Washed" from Panama's Esmeralda Farm.
This time, we will introduce you to Esmeralda Farm's "private collection."

Esmeralda Farm's Quest for the Best Coffee
It was the "rediscovery" of Geisha variety that made Panamanian coffee famous worldwide.
Also known as Geisha flavor, its floral, unique and noble flavor shocked the coffee industry and quickly became highly regarded around the world.
The Esmeralda Farm in the Boquete region of Chiriqui province in western Panama is where this trend began and continues to produce the highest quality Panamanian Geisha to this day.
The original Geisha coffee tree species, which was brought from Ethiopia, had already been introduced to Panama, but it had fallen into disuse due to its low productivity and lack of adaptability to the growing environment.
The Peterson family, owners of Esmeralda Farm, took notice of Geisha .
They discovered that Geisha grown in high-altitude farmland has a unique, noble flavor (described as jasmine-like) that is similar to the native Ethiopian species, but is different.
When this Geisha was put up for auction at the "Best of Panama" auction in 2004, it won first place, and continued to win for the next four years, achieving extraordinary results that made the names of Geisha and Esmeralda Farm known around the world. Moreover, the auction bid broke the world's highest bid at the time in 2004, and has continued to break world records ever since. This was the start of Geisha whirlwind that continues to this day.
After that, an auction category was launched for coffee from Esmeralda Farm alone, and the farm became a coveted destination for buyers from all over the world, as it was treated as something special.
Esmeralda Farm Categories

Even though Esmeralda Farm has achieved such a special status, it has never relaxed its pursuit of quality.
They strictly controlled the production process, strictly separated the lots, and personally ranked the coffee they produced through objective evaluation.
Currently, Geisha seeds from Esmeralda Farm in Panama are divided into three brands: Esmeralda Special, Private Collection, and Geisha 1500.
The highest rank, "Esmeralda Special," is a brand that can only be given to Geisha of exceptional quality that are put up for private auction. It can only be given to lots that are grown in both the Jaramillo and Caña Verde plots, which are located in areas between 1,600m and 1,800m above sea level, and that have received a cupping rating of 91 points or higher.
Meanwhile, the newly released "Private Collection" is grown in the same high altitude area as Esmeralda Special, at 1,600-1,800 meters. With a high cupping score of 87-90 points, it fully captures the rich aroma and other characteristics of Esmeralda's high-altitude Geisha . It is produced under the same strict management as Esmeralda Special.

Geisha 1500 is Geisha grown in an area above 1,400 meters, and although it is not grown at high altitude, it is a carefully managed lot.
Cultivating the Difficult Geisha Species

Geisha variety, native to Ethiopia, is known to be very delicate when it comes to cultivation.
It is susceptible to diseases such as rust (which suffered devastating damage in the 1970s), and the suitable growing environment is limited. It is said that unless the conditions are met—a moderately high altitude, low temperatures, adequate sunshine, moderate but not excessive rainfall, and fertile, well-drained soil with a pH value of around 5 to 6— Geisha distinctive floral and jasmine flavors will not emerge.
The fact that Esmeralda Farm is one of the few farms in the world that is suited to growing these Geisha varieties is testament to the fact that there are very few other Geisha varieties with comparable flavor.
Even within the same Panamanian farm, the flavors vary, reflecting the environment and terroir.
On the other hand, at Esmeralda Farm, the climate and soil vary slightly from one growing plot to another, resulting in slightly different flavors.
The allure of the Esmeralda private collection

Esmeralda Farm's Private Collection is a representative lot of the farm, produced under the same growing conditions and production management as the finest auction lots.
This time, CROWD ROASTER will be featuring a carefully selected lot from our private collection that has a particularly strong jasmine flavor, a characteristic of Esmeralda Geisha .
This is a brand that allows you to fully enjoy the characteristics and quality of Esmeralda Geisha while keeping the price relatively low.
Furthermore, Japan's leading roasters bring out these characteristics with their own interpretations.
This special combination is only available on CROWD ROASTER EX!
We hope you will take this opportunity to experience the charm of Esmeralda Geisha for yourself.
