The JCRC is a competition for coffee roasting techniques hosted by the Specialty Coffee Association of Japan (SCAJ). Its purpose is to contribute to the improvement of roasting techniques, and it also serves as a selection event for the WCRC, a global competition.
The JCRC was founded based on the CRC (Coffee Roasting Challenge), a program of the WCE (World Coffee Events) introduced at the SCAE Vienna Convention in 2012. The CRC was renamed the World Coffee Roasting Championship in 2013.
Past winners of the JCRC include CROWD ROASTER participating roasters Yoshiyuki Nakamura ( mamepolepole ) and Masakuni Sakata ( KOTO COFFEE ROASTERS ).
