A look back at CROWD ROASTER on September 27th

This year, at CROWD ROASTER booth, various professionals from the coffee industry, including roasters, baristas, mechanics, importers, and producers, will gather to hold various events and shows. We will deliver special content that can only be seen and heard here.

Now let's look back at the first day, Wednesday, September 27th.

Talk and extraction show with Raw Sugar's Kosakada in which he spoke passionately about his thoughts

Starting at 11am, we invited Yuya Kosakada a roaster at the popular specialty coffee shop Raw Sugar Roast and a participant in CROWD ROASTER to join us for a talk session and a demonstration of CROWD ROASTER brand coffee that he roasted himself.

The talk was titled "The Sweet and Smart Yuya Kosakada and the Secrets of RawSugar, Changing the Coffee Industry," and Kosakada spoke about roasting and the future of the specialty coffee industry.

In light of the current situation where specialty coffee is not yet widely available to the general public, Kosakada spoke to us about his pursuit of what is possible through roasting, and his hidden passion for changing the industry as a barista, roaster, and teacher.

In the second half of the session, Kosakada gave us a lesson in his unique extraction method.

We will be holding a roaster roundtable discussion with all three roasters, a chance to hear it nowhere else!

We invited four roasters Mikami Hitomi and Hitomi Ryo from Roast Design Coffee , Tanaka Yoshiya SPARK COFFEE ROASTERS , and Daito Hagiwara THE COFFEESHOP , to hold a talk session titled " What's interesting about roasting? "

We asked the roasters participating in CROWD ROASTER to share their honest thoughts with us, a topic that is rarely heard again.

Regarding roasting, Yoshiya said that the environment of the store and the design of the store, including the structure of the chimney, also influence the roasting, and that this is what makes it interesting. Hagiwara said that he enjoys working closely with the beans, and Mikami Hitomi said that it is interesting to bring out the unique characteristics of each type of bean.

It was a truly interesting story from each of us.

A valuable conversation between roaster Nakamura Japan's representative taking on the world, and coach Hitomi !

Yoshiyuki Nakamura , the Japanese roasting champion who will be competing in the world championships, and his coach, Hitomi Ryo, had a discussion titled " How to become the world's best roaster !"

The two are currently making final preparations for the World Coffee Roasting Championship (WCRC), which will be held in Taiwan in November.

As the judging rules will be changing this year, Hitomi has been gathering information, while Nakamura has been busy with repeated verification.
Coach Hitomi also seems to have complete confidence in Nakamura 's roasting, which makes us even more excited to see the two of them compete in the world championships.

Suzuki Kiyokazu on how to make "Glitch"

We invited Suzuki Kiyokazu owner and roaster of Glitch Coffee & Roasters, to hold a talk session and serve coffee.

The talk theme was " Popular overseas too! How was the one and only "Glitch" created ?"

How has Kiyokazu grown Glitch Coffee & Roasters, a roastery that is popular with Hikaru from overseas?
Also, how did they train the graduates of Glitch who are now active in various fields?

We asked Kiyokazu about this secret that is rarely revealed!

LiLo Nakamura Keita teaches you how to enjoy coffee

Following Kiyokazu , we invited Nakamura Keita LiLo Coffee Roasters to join us for a talk session and coffee sharing.

The talk theme was " Tell us, ENOHARA ! How to enjoy crossover coffee ."

ENOHARA conveys the appeal of specialty coffee in various ways, and we delved deeper into ENOHARA thoughts on his activities, as well as his coffee roasting at LiLo Coffee Roasters .

ENOHARA says that the role of roaster, which supports baristas, suits him best.
Rather than creating something from scratch, ENOHARA 's specialty is turning one into ten and then into a hundred million (!!), so we spoke to him about the fun things he does.

As you can see, there will be a ton of events happening at CROWD ROASTER booth right from the first day.
Please come visit us at CROWD ROASTER booth at SCAJ2023!
