[Results will be announced on Instagram Live from 6pm today] The preliminary cupping event for the "1ST CRACK COFFEE CHALLENGE 2024" is currently being held

The preliminary cupping evaluation for the 1ST CRACK COFFEE CHALLENGE (1CCC), a roasting competition that aims to discover and nurture young roasters, was held today, Friday, July 26th.
 
The deadline for submitting roasted beans for the preliminary round is Monday, June 24th. Twelve people will be selected from 100 applicants based on impartial data from gas chromatography tests conducted by Ajinomoto AGF, and the six finalists will be determined by today's cupping.

The first person to speak was Yoshisuke Fukuzawa, CEO of Giessen Japan, who founded 1CCC. He talked about why he founded 1CCC as a roasting machine manufacturer, what he expects from the Japanese coffee industry and roasters, and his thoughts on the 2024 tournament.

The second guest was Machi Kodama of "ou.bai.tou.ri.coffee roasters," who won the second competition in 2023. We asked him about the process of a roasting competition, which is not easily known to the general public, what he gained from participating in "1CCC," and the appeal of the "1CCC" competition.

The third guest was the Ajinomoto AGF staff, who are conducting aroma analysis using gas chromatography, which was introduced in the preliminary round of "1CCC". While actually seeing the "gas chromatography" machine, we asked them about the evaluation of coffee from aroma and why Ajinomoto AGF is sponsoring "1CCC".

The results of the "1CCC" preliminary cupping will be announced today at 18:00 on Insta Live.
